The Luther star Idris Elba and girlfriend, Sabrina Dhowre have become engaged after months of relationship on Friday, 9th February. The 45-year-old actor kneeled down and popped the question to the former Miss Vancouver, Dhowre, 29, at Rio Cinema, Dalston, ahead of a screening of his directorial debut Yardie Friday night. Elba and the beauty queen Dhowre met for the first time while he was making his 2017 thriller The Mountains Between Us. The couple fell in love within few meetings and started dating.

The Luther star Idris Elba and girlfriend, Sabrina Dhowre have become engaged after months of relationship on Friday, 9th February.

The 45-year-old actor kneeled down and popped the question to the former Miss Vancouver, Dhowre, 29, at Rio Cinema, Dalston, ahead of a screening of his directorial debut Yardie Friday night.

Elba, who had claimed the marriage was off the cards only six months ago, appeared ecstatic when his emotional other half said 'Yes!'

The Rio Cinema shared their engagement news on Twitter, posting Elba's photo and captioning it, "Still 5 days to Valentines Day but @idriselba went down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend live on stage.''

 One of the guests at the screening filmed the moment on the video which shows The Beasts of No Nation star getting onto his knee with a ring box as the audience responded loudly.

Elba and the beauty queen Dhowre met for the first time while he was making his 2017 thriller The Mountains Between Us. The couple fell in love within few meetings and started dating. However, they made their first public appearance as a couple at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2017.

Elba told People in his recent interview with Editor-in-Chief Jess Cagle,

Falling in love while making a movie about falling in love is pretty special.

 Before, Elba was married twice. He was married to a makeup artist Hanne Norgaard from 1999 to 2003. Later he married a lawyer Sonya Hamlin in 2006 which only lasted for six odd months. He was also in a relationship with Naiyana Garth, with whom he has his only child, a son, Winston.
