American plus-size model, Jennie Runk is best known for working in H&M's Summer 2013 beachwear campaign, highlighted on the front page of H&M's United States website in late April 2013. She was not a plus size model, she did modeling at first, then gained weight and turned into a “plus-size” model, and it seems the plus-size modeling gained her more fame. When Jennie become a plus-sized model, she booked an assignment with Vogue just within a year. Then she worked for Marie Claire, Cosmo Girl, and Seventeen magazines.
Early Life and Education
Jennie Runk was born on 13th June 1989, Georgia and moved to Chesterfield, Missouri. She spent her childhood in Georgia and her adolescence in Missouri. Jennie holds American nationality with white ethnicity.When she was five, she joined the Girls Scout.
In 2011, Runk received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in creative writing from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. In 2007, Jennie graduated from Parkway West High School.
She worked as a volunteer at 'Open Door Animal Sanctuary,' a cat adoption center for at Petsmart in Chesterfield, Missouri.
Career
Runk was discovered by Marie Clarke of Mother Model Management while she was working at PetSmart. She was size eight then, so Clarke told her to either gain weight to be plus size model or loose weight to be a straight model. So she first worked as a straight model and then took a bold move and decided to be a plus size model and became a size 10.
She originally signed with New York agency 'Wilhelmina Models' in March 2004 later switched to 'Ford Models.' She started modeling full-time in 2011 after she moved to New York City.
Her first major editorial was 'Body Language' in US Vogue's April 2005 Shape issues photographed by Steven Meisel.
Moreover, Jennie worked twice in Glamour, in 2009 edition she posed fully nude along with Ashley Graham, Crystal Renn, and Lizzie Miller.
Her other works include 'Cosmo Girl' in February 2006, Marie Claire in October 2007, and many Seventeen editorials. She was also interviewed by Vogue Italia's Vogue Curvy.
Runk featured on the front page of H&M's US website in late April 2013 and received extensive media coverage.
