Joy Behar is an American actress born in Williamsburg, New York and is of Italian descent. She is known as the host of the TV show, 'The View'. Besides being an actress, Joy is also a comedian and a writer. She was born to father Gino Occhiuto, a Coca-Cola truck driver, and mother Rose, a seamstress. Joy went to Queens college and graduated with a BA degree in sociology in 1964. Later Joy went to the State University of New York for her Master's degree. She started her professional career in show business after working in Good Morning America.
Before becoming an actress, Joy Behar was an English teacher at Lindenhurst Senior High School, New York. After working as a stand-up comedian in Good Morning America, she began working in the show The New Show which brought her to attention. The other shows of Joy include Way Off Broadway, The Joy Behar Show, Joy Behar: Say Anything!, and Late Night Joy. She is a good friend of Susie Essman who is also a famous stand-up comedian. Joy has been married twice and has a daughter.
