A Four-Time Cop Of The Year New York Police Department Officer Has Killed Himself Over Last Weekend By Shooting Himself On The Head Outside An Upstate New York Restaurant

  • NYPD detective Nicholas Budney, 36, shot himself on the head on last Saturday.
  • He was missing until 11 am on Sunday when cops discovered his body on the patio.

A New York Police Department officer Nicholas Budney has been found dead outside an upstate New York restaurant on Sunday, 28th January. 

According to the sources, the NYPD detective killed himself at Billy Joe's Ribworks in Newburgh Saturday night, however, the body was only detected next morning by the Newburgh police.

The Newburgh police held a press conference on Wednesday where they ruled the detective's death as a suicide.

Budney had served the New York Police for 13 years, and he was a member of Special Operations at the 47th Precinct and was named Cop of the Year for four times.

He had been recently assigned to the NYPD's Emergency Service Unit Truck 3 in the Bronx. Meanwhile, he had also been associated with the North Highland Fire Department and was recently announced as the ''Fireman of the Year."

The Rock Tavern native officer attended SUNY Plattsburgh and John College of Criminal Justice. He graduated in 2005 from the New York City Police Academy.
