Galen, who holds several American records married his longtime girlfriend Keara in the year 2010 at the private ceremony. The couple met for the first time at the University of Oregon and then the rest is history.
There is a famous saying that "behind every successful man there is a woman', and Galen completely agrees with this statement as he considers his wife as the reason behind him being successful.
Rupp in an interview in 2012 said that his life isn't an easy one. But his partner is "beyond supportive and flexible". He said,
"Getting married is the best thing that’s ever happened to me; I’m lucky she said yes… The lifestyle we live isn’t easy; we travel a lot and there’s a lot of last-minute changes to things. She’s beyond supportive and flexible. I couldn’t be more thankful."

Rupp and Keara became parents to twins, a boy, and a girl, in July 2014. His coach, Alberto Salazar shared pictures of the babies named Grayson and Emmie.
As per a report by Runner's World, Rupp, and Keara were expecting their third child in the month of October previous year but there are still no updates on the very topic.

Galen made his global senior debut at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics with 11th position in the 10,000m race. He earned a 13th position on the 2008 U.S. Olympic team in track and field with an American Olympic-record time of 27:36:99.
After his success on the American team for the 2009 World Championships in Athletics, he was qualified and competed at the 2010 IAAF World Indoor Championships.
He set the American Indoor 5000 meter record at Boston University on 16 January 2014 winning sixth consecutive USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Galen reserved the fifth position at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He finished second in the 2017 Boston Marathon but missed the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London last August.
He won the Faxon Law New Haven Road Race on 4 September 2017 beating Leonard Korir at the finish line.
