Japanese Princess Mako marries a commoner leaving her status with her long time love Kei Komuro. They will most probably marry the nest year.

Japanese Princess Mako seemed very happy as she officially announced her engagement to a non-royal after her grandfather Emperor Akihito gave an approval.

As per the Japanese law, female Imperial family after marrying a commoner will lose all the royal status. Princess Mako has no regret in her decision; she's in deep love and affection with Kei Komuro.

Princess Mako of Akishino: Announced her Marriage with a Commoner

The eldest granddaughter of Japanese Emperor Akihito, officially confirmed her engagement with Kei Komuro in a press conference on the Akasaka Estate in Tokyo on Sunday, 3 September.

She will be abandoning her royal status to marry her love. That's something you never see every day and it's definitely true love!!

Her fiance, Kei is a 25-year-old law clerk. The duo met for the first time five years ago while studying at Tokyo's International Christian University, where they graduated.

Kei won Mako's heart in the first glance that added further affection with his sincerity and bright smile. Mako explained the moment in a shy mood:

"First I was attracted by his bright smiles like the sun."

It is said that Mako will lose her royal status and name after marrying a commoner, Women aren't allowed to succeed Japan's throne. As an obvious fact, love has no boundaries and no restrictions.

Komuro proposed his love after dinner one evening in December 2013. Mako introduced the guy to her parents, Prince Akishino- second in line to the throne and princess Kiko.

Komuro is very glad and thankful as he's accepted by Mako's parents and grandparents, Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko. Mako explained,

"Having a family still goes beyond my imagination, but I hope to make one that is warm, comfortable and filled with smiles."

Furthermore, they maintained a long-distance relationship for over a year while studying overseas Mako in Britain and Komuro in the United States.

Komuro and Mako's engagement was kept private until earlier this year.

The couple is speculated to get married most probably the following year in a grand ceremony.
