Singer and actress Courtney Love has posted a heartbreaking message on social media on Tuesday 20th February to mark what would have been her late husband Kurt Cobain's 51st birthday.
Love wrote, ''happy birthday baby god I miss you,'' alongside a lovely photo of her with her late husband, Cobain.
In a recent Evening Standard article, Love has discussed Kurt Cobain getting 'freaked out' as he saw his photo in the fashion section of New York Times. She said,
When Kurt and I were together in the Eighties and early Nineties, neither of us were into fashion at all. It was another planet — a moon somewhere. I didn’t know anything about it. I thought I could make my own fashion and didn’t need other people to tell me.
Love continued,
I had a kind of punk attitude towards it all. You just wore what you wanted to wear, whatever made you look good. Kurt was the same. So one time, I remember, we were lying in bed and opened The New York Times to see ‘fashion’ pictures of him splashed across the paper. We were both amazed. Kurt didn’t get it. He’d always shied away from anything to do with fashion and it freaked him out.
Love and Cobain dated for around two years before they tied the knot on February 24, 1992. The couple exchanged their vows at the lavish Waikiki Beach in Hawaii. The couple first met on January 12, 1990, in Portland's Satyricon nightclub.
Love and Cobain welcomed their first child, a baby daughter Frances Bean Cobain in August 1992. Around two years later, in April 1994, singer Kurt Cobain was found dead at his home in Seattle. Later authorities ruled his death as a suicide by a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head.
