2008 was a pretty rough year for the actress because it was the time when she first found out that she had breast cancer. The diagnosis further revealed that she had inherited the genetic trait, a BRCA gene that triggered breast cancer.
However, after going intensive medications and a double mastectomy, she announced that she's finally cancer free. And to be more careful she removed her ovaries and tubes after finding out that her cousin passed away from ovarian cancer in 2008.
She stated,
"My cousin passed away from ovarian cancer in 2008. I could prevent that. That's how I've taken control of everything. It's a relief. That's one other thing off the table. Now, let's hope I don't get hit by a bus."
Although she has taken all the precautions, she's worried that her six-year-old daughter, Sadie Grace, too has cancer. She thinks that as she was inherited the cancer gene, the chances of her daughter suffering breast cancer are pretty high and she's doing everything to prevent it. She is checking her stress levels and managing her diet.
The Anchorman actress has been married twice in her lifetime. She was married to actor Johnathon Schaech back in 2001 but they divorced citing irreconcilable differences after six years of wedding bliss.
Soon after that, she started dating musician Martyn LeNoble. They were completely head over heels for each other and eventually they tied knots on February 23, 2013, organizing a grand wedding in their LA home.
Before that, they had already welcomed their first child, daughter Sadie Grace back in 2011. And now, the couple has been living happily together without any rumors of split or divorce. And during the harsh times too, her husband Martyn was a great support and motivated her to move forward in her career as well as personal life.
She gets a routine checkup from her oncologist and also involved in Right Action for Women which provides all the help that is needed for women who are at increased risk of breast cancer.
The actress has given hit movies in the recent years including Vacation, Bad Moms, and Crash Pad.
