The former Canadian defenceman, Sheldon Souray faces similar circumstances in his life after his failed relationship with his ex-wife. Former Canadian defenceman Souray's life might look perfect, but it's not. Sheldon faced a lot of suffering since his childhood. At, the early age of 9, his parents got divorced.

Raised by an alcoholic father, Souray yield at his dad to stop drinking after he gets eligible to play for the NHL Draft. Soon he got selected by the New Jersey Devils in the third round of the 1994 NHL Draft.

On May 1, 1994, his father quit drinking as promised, telling his son he didn’t need a drunk dad hanging around the arena. 

After that, his father Richard Souray, a truck driver became hard-working man and loved watching hockey with his son inside the rink.

Unfortunately, the amazing bond between the father and son didn't last long. After his father died at the age of 69 due to a massive stroke, Souray adopted his father's lifestyle becoming an addict. In the memory of his father Sheldon recalls;

“The man I admire most who have ever walked the face of the Earth has already done this, so I can do it, too.”

Furthermore, Souray admits he isn't actually ready for life after hockey. He paid a heavy price for his addiction to painkillers after suffering a huge loss.

The addiction would've taken him to his father if he hadn’t received help from the NHL Players’ Association substance-abuse program.

Besides, diving into addiction after the death of his father, his previous failed relationship adds up to his negativity. Sheldon Souray married twice, which both of them didn't last long.

Initially, Sheldon Souray hitched to former Baywatch actress Angelica Bridges in 2002. In addition, the duo together even shared two daughters; Valentina Raine Souray and Scarlett Skye Souray. Their relationship ended after the pair divorced in 2007.

Likewise, after being in a girlfriend/boyfriend relationship for more than a year, Sheldon married Barbie Blank in 2016. The WWE star Barbie Bank is more famous for her ring name Kelly Kelly.

Nevertheless, the chemistry between this duo fell off a cliff as the pair divorced in late 2017. The reality star Blank previously dated fellow wrestler Andrew Martin for two and a half years until he died of an accidental overdose in March 2009

As of now, all these failures made Sheldon an addict to alcohol. Souray said over the phone from his summer home in Idaho.

 “I never saw my dad as a raging alcoholic … that was never my dad.”
