Chris Rock is a comedian and quite a decorated one, considering the host of accolades under his belt, including three Grammys, four Primetime Emmys, and more. In addition to his well-sought career in comedy, Rock also thrives in the industry as an actor and filmmaker. Not discrediting the comedian's accomplishments, but Rock's infamous and jaw-dropping incident with actor Will Smith at the 94th Academy Awards last year probably garnered him more attention than his multi-faceted career combined.

Christopher Julius Rock was born on born February 7, 1965, in Andrews, South Carolina. Although Rock started his journey as a stand-up comedian, it was his acting career that took off first. Rock's earlier credits include the film I'm Gonna Git You Sucka and the TV series Miami Vice. He was a regular cast member of the much-loved Saturday Nights Live, which made him a household name, from 1990 to 1993. Chris maintains a low-profile dating life but doesn't mind humorous reflections on his personal life during his stand-up gigs every now and then.

Inside Chris Rock's Married Life!

Everything about the Grammy-winning comedian's life has been a subject of interest since last year and it includes Rock's personal life. Rock was once married to a publicist named Malaak Compton, with whom he shares his two daughters. It has been over six years since the comedian has maintained his status as a divorcee. Rock met Compton at a magazine awards in 1994. The duo dated for two years before walking down the aisle in 1996.

Speaking highly of his then-wife, the comedian-turned-actor said,  "she's changed me. She's really calmed me down and centered my life." Five years as a married couple and Rock and Compton didn't have any children, the comedian later explains how the tragic 9/11 attack opened his eyes. "I said to myself, 'The world's falling down, and what have I done with my life?," says the SNL alum. Chris adds, "after September 11, I said, 'it's time. Let's have a baby."

The couple welcomed their firstborn, daughter Lola Simon, in June 2002, followed by daughter Zahra, in May 2004. The pair experienced some bumps early in their marriage. The Grown Ups actor infamously admitted to infidelity in 2004. Rock revealed that a reckless sexual encounter strained his relationship with Compton in 1998. The spouses were separated for a while before eventually patching things up.

Questions about Rock's loyalty reoccurred periodically; in 2006 and 2007, when reports about the pair's rocky marriage and the comedian fighting a paternity claim surfaced in the headlines. "We remain, as always, very happy and committed to our marriage and the beautiful family that we have built," the pair's statement read amid divorce rumors in 2007. Rock finally pulled the plug on their tumultuous marriage in December 2014, when the comedian filed for divorce.

"This was a long time coming," a close source said while referring to Rock and Malaak's delayed divorce, adding, "Chris has known it wasn't salvageable for a while. He was the one to file because he knew it was time to just move forward already." The estranged pair's divorce was finalized in 2016, with Malaak reportedly walking away with millions in settlement. Compton is now a published author, public speaker, and philanthropist.

Inside Chris Rock's Dating History!

The Grammy-winning comedian was with Malaak for eighteen years, during which he allegedly had several affairs, details of which remain unknown. The New Jack City actor kept a low-profile dating career following his divorce from Compton. Rock was with actress Megalyn Echikunwoke shortly after his divorce. The lovebirds called their romance "casual" but it lasted for four years before they split ways in 2020.

Rock seemingly doesn't like being single as he was linked with singer Carmen Ejogo shortly after his split from Megalyn. But unlike his long, albeit non-exclusive romance with Echikunwoke, Chris's romance with Ejogo fizzled out before the duo could take off as a couple. The Down to Earth actor's latest flame happens to be actress/director Lake Bell, with whom he was linked after the slap gate in June 2022.

Rock and Bell are seemingly in for a long haul, seeing how the two are going strong after almost a year. A source asserts the belief, saying, "they share a giant sense of humor and a way of looking at life with sarcasm and outrage, which gives them lots to laugh about. It's a good match. Chris is busy and happy, and his time with Lake Bell has been great."
