How They Met & Fell in Love?
Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson met for the first time at Usher’s 40th birthday party in 2018. The actress revealed on Late Night with Seth Meyers in 2021 that they had a one-night stand that turned into a long-term relationship. “We’re in a two, three-year one-night stand now,” she joked.
The couple sparked rumors of an imminent wedding when they appeared to pick up a marriage license in Beverly Hills, California, in August 2019. Later reports said that the couple had a December 2019 wedding.
In April 2020, they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Juno Rose. Jackson told Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen in May 2021 that he knew Turner-Smith was “the one” when she “walked into the room looking like that.”
Why They Decided to Part Ways
According to documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Turner-Smith and Jackson's divorce was officially initiated on Monday, October 2, 2023. The actress, who was represented by high-powered attorney Laura Wasser, claimed that the couple had "irreconcilable differences" as the cause of their breakup. She is requesting that she and her ex-husband share custody of their kid and that neither of them get spousal support.
Fans are shocked by the news of their divorce because the couple always gave the impression of being quite happy and mutually supportive. They were all in New York on September 9 to honor Turner-Smith on the occasion of his 37th birthday. They both participated in the September 1st unveiling of the Lotus Emeya electric vehicle and were spotted at other New York Fashion Week events together.
Neither Turner-Smith nor Jackson has publicly commented on their divorce yet. Representatives for both actors did not respond to requests for comment from various media outlets.
What’s Next for Them?
Turner-Smith and Jackson both have demanding professional schedules. Turner-Smith will play the lead role in the upcoming Netflix prequel to the popular fantasy series The Witcher, titled The Witcher: Blood Origin. In addition to co-starring with Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in Murder Mystery 2, she will also make an appearance.
Meanwhile, Jackson may be seen in the Hulu remake of the classic thriller Fatal Attraction. In the second season of Peacock's Dr. Death, he'll be back as Dr. Christopher Duntsch.
It's unclear how their co-parenting agreements and personal lives will be impacted by the divorce. Nonetheless, it's clear that they adore one another and value their relationship with their daughter. Turner-Smith told a reporter in April 2021 that she and Jackson were "like mirrors for each other" because they were "so similar in so many ways." Her final thought was, "I just really love that human being."
