Michelle Zauner Met Her Husband Accidentally in a Bar

In 2012, Michelle Zauner first encountered Peter Bradley at a bar in South Philly known as 12 Steps Down. Despite being involved with someone else at the time, she felt an immediate connection to Bradley. Eventually, she confessed her feelings to him, and he reciprocated, leading them to start a romantic relationship.

Following this important moment, Zauner penned a song titled “12 Steps” as an apology to the individual she parted ways with, expressing that she had found the love of her life and nothing else could compare.

Michelle Asked Peter Bradley to Marry

Zauner and Bradley faced a challenging period in their relationship when Zauner's mother received a diagnosis of stage four pancreatic cancer in 2014. She returned to her hometown of Eugene, Oregon, to provide care for her mother, while Bradley remained in Philadelphia for work, visiting her on weekends.

During her mother's hospitalization, Zauner proposed to Bradley, hoping to provide her mother with additional motivation to hold on. Following this poignant moment, they married just two weeks later, in an intimate ceremony attended by their families and close friends. Regrettably, Zauner's mother passed away shortly after the wedding.

The Couple Perform Together on Stage as Japanese Breakfast

After her mother's passing, Zauner channeled her grief into music, giving rise to her solo project, Japanese Breakfast. Her debut album, Psychopomp, released in 2016, garnered widespread praise for its candid and poignant exploration of loss and recovery. Bradley joined her as a keyboardist and guitarist, and together they embarked on extensive tours across the US and Europe.

Their collaboration extended to two additional albums, Soft Sounds from Another Planet (2017) and Jubilee (2021), spotlighting Zauner's remarkable versatility and artistry as a songwriter and vocalist. Their band's exceptional work has earned them a nomination for a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album in 2022.

How do They Encourage Each Other’s Creative Endeavors?

Apart from their collaborative musical efforts, Zauner and Bradley pursue their projects and interests. Zauner has succeeded as an author, notably with the publication of her memoir, Crying in H Mart, in 2021, a work that spent 60 weeks on The New York Times hardcover non-fiction bestseller list.

He also delves into his solo venture, Bumper, which released an EP titled Pop Songs 2020 in 2020. Their mutual support for each other's pursuits is evident through their expressions of admiration and appreciation on various social media platforms.

The Secrets of Their Blissful Marriage

Zauner and Bradley have been married nine years and are still deeply in love. As some reports, the couple are living a happy life in Brooklyn, New York. Zauner wrote a song called "Til Death" for Bradley to express her thankfulness and love for him, particularly for his support during her difficult times.
