Let's time-travel back in 1999. During those days, Maddow was a struggling news host as she had just started radio hosting for WRNX (100.9 FM) in Massachusetts.
Also, she was doing odd jobs here and there for financial matters.
Coincidentally, Rachel got a job to work as a yard cleaner at one home in the Berkshires, southern England, West London.

Her job did help out her a lot, as she not only got some cash but she found someone special to share the rest of her life with.

The two fell for each other in an instant and started dating since then. In an interview with People.com, Maddow revealed what was like when they first dated. She quoted,
"It was very Desperate Housewives. My first date with Susan was at an NRA' Ladies Day on The Range event and it was really special for both of us"

The casual dates turned into romantic dinners and eventually they got into a committed relationship. Now the couple lives together in the Farm House in Massachusetts with their adorable dog, Poppy.

She quoted:
“I feel that gay people not being able to get married for generations, forever, meant that we came up with alternative ways of recognizing relationships. And I worry that if everybody has access to the same institutions that we lose the creativity of subcultures having to make it on their own. And I like gay culture.”
