Starting her career at the age of 22 as the youngest novice into the local TV’s Channel 5 to being turned into a 52-year-old veteran reporter in one of the longest-running top-rated stations in WPTV, Kelley Dunn has gained quite a recognition in the realm of broadcasting.

Contrary to Kelley's much-known life in the news, many of her followers are still unaware of her life when she exits the newsroom. Kelley Dunn has remained devoted to her profession for 30 years and her loyalty has also served equally in her personal life with her husband John Perez by keeping the marriage strong even after 28 years.

John and Kelley fell in love in the late 1980 and ten years later the couple turned their affair into a lifetime romance when they tied the knot on July 21 in 1990.

The husband and wife have since been blessed with two children; a son and a daughter who are now all grown-ups. Kelley’s son, Jonathan is in the US army and her daughter, Christina is a professional illustrator.

With both their youngs already ahead in their career, Kelley and John have now become empty nesters planning the next adventures of their lives. Currently residing in the Palm City, California, the couple when recently asked has hinted at heading towards western North Carolina in the next few years.

Kelley Dunn's Career

Kelley began her career at WPTV two months after her graduation in broadcasting from the University of Florida in 1985. Initially recruited as a reporter, Kelley quickly made herself an anchor within six months.

Kelly went on to win 6 Emmys for co-anchoring the evening newscasts on NewsChannel 5. Besides, she has also received multiple awards for her excellence in journalism from the society of professional journalists, the associated press and the Telly awards.

Bringing about her work, many of her features have been focused on community-themed issues such as:

Seeing red; which gave viewers an observation into retinoblastoma, a deadly eye cancer. This in-depth reporting of Kelly helped to raise awareness about the disease and helped save the lives of at least three children in Florida.

Her investigation oriented project Driveway danger alarmed viewers to the tragic epidemic of back over deaths among children.

Kelley investigated the automotive devices and implemented it in preventing such tragedies and she even persuaded the Congress to pass the legislation for making such devices mandatory in vehicles.
