Josh Brolin’s Early Life And Education

Josh Brolin was born on 1968 February 12 in Los Angeles as Josh James Brolin. He is the son of James Brolin- an Actor and Jane Cameron Agee- a wildlife activist. When Brolin was 16 years old, his parents divorced and this led Josh to split time between his mother and father.

When Josh was 27 years old, his mother died in a car accident. After 3 years, his father married actress and singer Barbra Streisand. During his high school level, he became interested in acting after taking improv acting classes.

Josh Brolin’s Career

As Josh discovered his passion for acting, he made his film debut in"The Goonies" in 1985. In addition to Josh, the cast also featured other performers like Sean Astin, Martha Plimpton, and Corey Feldman. The film grossed more than $60 million at the box office.

After that, Josh was featured in a skateboard action movie Thrashin in 1986. The film left him to wonder about his future as an actor. He told the interview magazine:

"I remember at the premiere of my second movie I started crying. I thought I'm so bad that I either have to stop this and do something else or learn what I'm doing.

In 1987, Josh made his foray into a television series, "Private Eye." He co-starred opposite Michael Woods in the drama. Later, he starred in the Western television series "The Young Riders" directed by his father in 1989.

The show also featured young famous Western figures like- "Wild Bill" Hickok played by Josh, and  Buffalo Bill Cody played by Stephen Baldwin. In 1992, the show went off the air.

Josh rose to prominence after his breakthrough performance in the 1996 comedy film "Flirting With Disaster". He soon appeared in"Mimic", "And Nightwatch". Despite working steadily, box office success proceeded to elude the actor.

Josh starred in his television series "Mister Sterling" in 2003. He portrayed the role of the son of a former California governor but unfortunately, the series was canceled after 2 months.

Later then Josh went on to a small role in Melinda and Melinda in 2004 and substantial television parts in"Murder Book" as a leading role.

When he started working with the director, Roberto Rodriguez, his profile started to rise. He has a small role in the horror films "Grindhouse", and "And the Valley of Elah".

Josh's role as a corrupt detective became an important part of him in "American Gangster" in 2007. He co-starred with Javier Bardem and Jones in " No Country for Old Men". He was quite excited to work with Ethan and Joel Coen. In an interview, he said:

"It was basically as if your favorite musician were to call you up and say, 'Hey, man. I'd love to do a tour with you.' The Coens have been favorite filmmakers of mine since they started."

Josh gained wide praise for his role in"No Country for Old Men" as Llewelyn Moss- a cowboy who goes on the run after stumbling across the victims of a drug deal gone bad.

In the following year, he continued to undertake challenging roles on the big screen. He started in "W"- a biographical film about President George W. Bush. He worked hard on his portrayal of the former president. As he told to Los Angeles Times:

"I was blown away following the guy through the labyrinth of his life, the personal conviction he found once he stopped drinking and deepened his relationship with Jesus."

In July 2008, Police caught him along with Jeffrey Wright because of a bar brawl in Shreveport, Louisiana, and the charges were later dropped.

After that, he had other big roles in the movies like 'Milk', "True Grit" in 2010, Men in Black in 2012, Gangster Squad in 2013, Labor Day in 2013, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For in 2014, Inherent Vice in 2014 and Sicario in 2015.

In 2017, he signed a 4 years film contract with 20th Century Fox studio and 2018's Deadpool is the first installment within that contract.

Josh Brolin’s Net Worth

From his acting career, Josh earns a good sum of money. He has still active in the field of acting for a long and to date, as he starred in numerous movies and television series. 

As of now, Josh's net worth is estimated to be $45 million. Well, most of his net worth is bolstered by his salaries in films like Guardians of the Galaxy and Marvel's Avengers and his 4-year film deal with 20th Century Fox Studio.

Josh Brolin’s Personal Life; Who's His Current Wife? 

In 1988, Josh married Deborah Adair and they welcomed their first child son Trevor in the same year. They soon became a parent of one daughter named Eden. In 1994, they divorced citing irreconcilable differences.

Josh was in a romantic relationship with Minnie Driver. They dated each other for several years but they broke up in 2001. However, neither of them confirmed the reason behind their breakup.

In 2004 he tied the knot with an actress Diane Lane. After a few months of their marriage, they made headlines when Josh was arrested for spousal battery.

As per the reports, there was a misunderstanding in their house and they were embarrassed the matter went wrong. Their divorce was finalized by the end of 2013.

After that, he got engaged to his former assistant and model Kathryn Boyd. They got engaged in 2015 and in 2016, Josh tied the knot with Kathryn. And to date, they are living a happy married life. Moreover, they share two daughters from their marriage.
