Rachel Mackley is a British broadcaster. She is the main weather forecaster on the BBC’s South East Today news programme. Rachel grew up in Yorkshire and began a degree studying fine art at Newcastle University. But her plans were abruptly put on hold when she found out she was pregnant at the age of 20. Mackley began her career as a journalist in 2007 at Leads Trinity and All Saints College with the help of ITV bursary. Rachel also spent her couple of years working as a producer, newsreader and weather presenter.
There is not much information about her personal life. She is supposed to be married. There are no details if this couple is still together or had ended their relationship with divorce. Rachel Mackley was born in the year 1982 and was raised in Yorkshire. She attended Newcastle University but had to take a break from the college because of her pregnancy at the age of 20. She started living with her parents to Leeds until the birth of her son Theo. Later, she rejoined the university and after graduation started a job in public relations in Edinburgh. She then joined Leeds Trinity, and All Saints College for the post graduated course in 2007 to initiate her journalism career.
Career
Mackley started her internship at ITV Yorkshire which gave her an opportunity to work at the Norwich office at ITV Anglia. She said, "I was sat next to a chap who I thought was in admin and I was being nice and making small talk. It turned out he was the head of news at ITV Anglia."
She worked as the weather presenter, newsreader and a producer in the channel. After working at ITV Anglia for few years, Mackey joined South East Today news programme and had been working as the main weather forecaster since 2011.
Personal Life
Mackley has a son named Theo from her previous relationship, and as of 2018 she is pregnant with her second child but has not revealed about the father. She lives a very low-key life and never prefers to talk about her personal life especially her romantic life. She is going to be the mother for the second time, but the identity of her partner is still a mystery.
During her leisure time, she enjoys traveling, painting, and dancing. Besides that, she is also interested in playing tennis and participate in the celebrity match at the Aegon International tennis tournament on 17 June 2014.
Mackley fainted mid-broadcast after she suffered from the horrible virus on 22 February 2016. She was giving a weather report on the show when she suddenly looked at her presenters Rob Smith and Polly Evans and said: "I'm so sorry, I'm going to faint." She was admitted at Pembury Hospital.
