Ashley Mattingly, Former Playboy Playmate is Dead at 33
One more star left the world too soon. Ashley Mattingly, a former playboy playmate died last week at the tender age of thirty-three.
Mattingly was found unresponsive on Thursday after a friend called police asking for a wellness check. The initial investigation shows that the former playboy playmate took her own life and left a suicide note on April 15.
The information of Ashley's suicide and sucide note is confirmed by her brother, William Mattingly, and sister Christy Mattingly. In the statement released by Mattingly siblings to PEOPLE, they said,
"We learned late Thursday night that it is believed that our dear sister with a larger-than-life personality took her own life. As part of an ongoing investigation, the police have notes that we are told she left behind and we are anxious to read them."
In the same statement, the Mattingly family revealed that the model was staying in Austin, closer to the family for the past few years. Also, they disclosed that she was battling with alcohol and substance abuse.
The incident took place in Bee Cave, Texas, which is about 15 miles northeast of Austin. The Bee Cave Police Department has not commented on the cause of the death as the investigation is ongoing. The toxicology or autopsy result of Mattingly will take anywhere from 30 to 90 days, then only the official cause of death will be released.
Nonetheless, Ashley, in her last Instagram post, which was one week ago, was seen in a hospital. In the video, the Texas native cleared that she is not quarantined because of coronavirus; instead, she is in hospital after vomiting a lot of blood.
Mattingly revealed that vomiting is the result of drinking too much. Also, she advised others not to do such things as they might not be lucky enough to reach the hospital, especially during stay-at-home order.
Ashley came into prominence as Miss March for Playboy in 2011. She also remained in the news in 2012 after her then-boyfriend Lane Garrison was caught slapping her in the face at her former Beverly Hills apartment building's elevator. The "Prison Break" actor pleaded no contest to a charge of domestic battery and stayed in jail for two months.
Ashley is survived by a twin brother, two sisters, nieces, and numerous other family members. The details about the funeral are not provided yet.
