Pilot Jon Emerson surprised his girlfriend and passengers during a flight from Detroit to Oklahoma City 2 days before Christmas.
The 24-year-old pilot Emerson proposed his girlfriend Lauren Gibbs, 23, from Nashville, Tennessee as he briefed their passengers on weather conditions.
In a recently emerged video, Emerson can be heard informing passengers about the 2.5 hour flight time and the weather condition before he popped the question.
He first introduced Lauren to the passengers and said:
This is a very special day for Lauren and me. It's our anniversary today and she's one of our very best flight attendants.
I want this day to be known for the rest of our lives. I want to spend the rest of my life with her
Jon then got down to knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him.
Gibbs then leaned down to kiss her fiance with tears in her eyes where rest of the passengers cheered for the happy couple.
Emerson said he had spent three months planning the proposal for their December 23 anniversary.
Gibbs told The Independent after the engagement, she was 'caught so off guard' with the proposal because she said 'Jon is a really quiet guy, with a very shy personality.
She also explained that she spent most of her time with her beau. They first met together during a flight and they have flown together ever since.
Independent reported Emerson had asked an off-duty pilot sitting in the first class seat to record their sweet moment.
