Son of Former Cuban President Fidel Castro, Dies At 68!

On Thursday morning, Fidel Ángel Castro Díaz-Balar, who was suffering from depression was found dead. The 68-year-old son of the late president of Cuba, Fidel Castro, was a nuclear physicist who was trained by the former soviet union.

According to Cuban state media, son of Cuba's former leader Fidel Castro, took his own life in Havana.

On Thursday morning, Fidel Ángel Castro Díaz-Balar, who was suffering from depression was found dead. The 68-year-old son of the late president of Cuba, Fidel Castro, was a nuclear physicist who was trained by the former soviet union. 

Díaz-Balart was the firstborn son of the late president who was also nicknamed "Fidelito", or Little Fidel to keep the resemblance of the family. 

The official newspaper of Cuba, Granma reported:

Fidel Castro Díaz-Balart, who had been treated by a group of doctors for several months due to deep depression, took his life this morning,

In addition, the state television informed that he was in a hospital stay and receiving medical treatment in recent months.

Before he died, he was serving ar the vice president of Cuba's academy of sciences and was also a scientific adviser for the Cuban council of state.

From 1980 to 1992 he headed the island's nuclear programme which was later suspended when the soviet union collapsed.
