Nolan had a great desire to work for the BBC in past. Since the year 2003, he worked for BBC NI presenting The Stephen Nolan Show on BBC Radio Ulster.
He presented his own phone-in show for BBC Radio Five Live and Question Time Extra Time on BBC One. He was one among few Northern Irish working in the channel.

He participated in a charity "boxing" match for Children in Need. He was knocked down from a stray uppercut from Gerry Anderson.
The radio personality was featured on Chris Moyles' Radio 1 Breakfast Show in May 2008.

Nolan also dedicated himself in several television shows. He worked in a weekly TV debate and phone-in show called Nolan Live on BBC Northern Ireland.
Fair Play was a weekly consumer watchdog program including "Mission Employable", a series focused on the group of unemployed people helping them to get a dream job.
He presented some other shows including Panic Attack, The Wright Stuff, and Story of a Lifetime.
The Dancing on Ice host has net assets of £618,000 with £529,115 in the bank as of 2013.
