As per Daily Mail, Irene Cara, a singer, most recognized for performing the title tracks of the iconic movies Fame and Flashdance from the 1980s, has passed away. Her age was 63.
Early on Saturday morning, Cara's publicist, Judith A. Moose, released a message on the singer's Twitter account confirming the news that Cara had passed away.
Moose announced the demise of Irene Cara "on behalf of her family "The Oscar-winning actress, singer, songwriter, and producer was dead in her home in Florida."
The representative also mentioned that Irene's family had asked for privacy while they dealt with their loss. She was a wonderfully talented spirit, and her films and music will ensure that her legacy is preserved for all time.
According to her representative, the reason for Cara's passing is unknown but will be disclosed as soon as the relevant information becomes available. She also mentioned that funeral services are in the process of being prepared and that a memorial ceremony for Cara's supporters will be organized at a later time.
Cara first came to public attention after being chosen to play Coco Hernandez in the 1980 musical Fame, in which she also sang the show's title song and played a leading role.
