A spokesman to the Prime Minister's office announced on Sunday.
He said:
"The prime minister and Ms. Symonds were married yesterday afternoon in a small ceremony at Westminster Cathedral. The couple will celebrate their wedding with family and friends next summer."
The marriage surprised many as a week ago, the prime minister had sent save-the-date cards to family and friends for the wedding on 30 July 2020.
Mr. Johnson is the first Prime Minister in 200 years to marry while serving in office. The last person to do so was Robert Jenkinson, 2nd Earl of Liverpool, when he married Lady Mary Chester in 1822.
Boris, 56, and Symonds, 33, started living together in his official residence in Downing Street in 2019. Carrie, with whom Johnson engaged in late 2019, is an English political activist and conservationist. Together the duo shares a son, Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson, who they welcomed on 29 April 2020.
