Hana Kimura, 22-Year-Old Japanese Wrestler and Star of "Terrace House" Is Dead
One more life lost too soon. Japanese Professional Wrestler and actress Hana Kimura die at the young age of 22.
On May 23, 2020, World Wonder Wing Stardom announced that Hana Kimura is dead. In the post on Twitter, the organization wrote:
"We are very sorry to report that our Hana Kimura has passed away. Please be respectful and allow some time for things to process, and keep your thoughts and prayers with her family and friends. We appreciate your support during this difficult time."
Kimura was signed to the Stardom on March 25, 2019, after three years of sucessful performance in Wrestle-1. The Yokohama native was considered a rising star in the Japnese female wrestling community.
Just months after her debut in 2016, Kimura won her first title; JWP Junior Championship. The second generational wrestler continued her excellent performance and won several championships, including Artist of Stardom Championship and Goddess of Stardom Championship.
In addition to that, Kimura, in recent times, was getting worldwide recognition from the Netflix show Terrace House. She joined the Japnese reality show in 2019 and quickly gained attention because of her bright pink hair and bubbly nature.
It is reported that despite having lots of fans, the reality star was also a victim of cyberbullying. She was so frustrated with the negative comments that she caused self-harm. There are several tweets of the wrestler where a slashed wrist can be seen. Also, once she wrote:
"Thank you to everyone who supported me, I love it. I'm weak, I'm sorry. I don't want to be human anymore. It was a life I wanted to be loved. Thank you, everyone, I love you. Bye."
Similarly, Kimura's last Instagram post showed a photo of herself with her cat and the caption; "I love you, have a long, happy life. I'm sorry"
These social media posts led to speculations that Kimura took her life because of cyberbullying. However, the official cause of death is not revealed.
After her death, condolences began to come from the wrestling community all around the world. She is survived by her mother, Kyoko Kimura, a former professional wrestler who is married to mixed martial artist Isao Kobayashi.
