The actor had split in 2002 after being in the marriage for nine years but had decided to part ways when her daughter was only 7 years old. She publicly admitted that her daughter was severely affected by the decision. After seeing what had happened to her daughter, Kim decided to raise her daughter in a non-traditional manner.

She said: “I just wanted her to be free. If she wanted to have her friends over and write over the walls with a pen, that was fine, I wanted her childhood to be full of love and light and animals and friends.”

Basinger and Alec Baldwin had to fight over a difficult custody for their daughter and had to go through a rough situation. But she admitted that they have moved on now with good terms.
