Billionaire Rihanna drops lawsuits against Father for causing reputation damage
Pop Star Rihanna apparently released the lawsuit against her dad, Ronald Fenty. Singer claims her father booked the show without her authorization and tried to profit off her name for false advertising and invading her privacy.
The Umbrella hitmaker Rihanna reportedly dropped a lawsuit against her father, Ronald Fenty, just weeks before appearing in court. The legal case claims Mr. Fenty used his daughter's name to promote his entertainment company Fenty Entertainment and made money without her permission.
Alongside his business partner identified as Mr. Perkins, Ronald falsely advertised the company's affiliation with the Grammy-award-winning artist. The billionaire singer, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, also accused her dad of organizing an overseas tour, which the star claims she did not authorize.
Rih also stated that her father, who is not her agent, was booking a $15 million overseas tour show "15-date tour of Latin America" for her without checking her prior knowledge or consent.
Fenty beauty founder also alleged that her father tried to trademark the phrase "Fenty". Ronald, however, claims it was him the first to use the name & even asked for the lawsuit to be thrown out. The Trademark Office & US Patent denied Ronald's previous request to register his own trademark for Fenty to open his own boutique hotels.
Rihanna filed the lawsuit in 2019 and the court disclosed that the 33-year old released a statement about the allegation claiming that: "Although Mr Fenty is Rihanna's father, but he does not have and never has had authority to act on Rihanna's behalf."
Additionally, the court statement continues, "Mr Fenty & Mr Perkins have used these lies in a fraudulent effort to solicit millions of dollars from unsuspecting third parties in exchange for the false promise that they were authorized to act on Rihanna's behalf."
Likewise, Rihanna's legal team cited that the move of Ronald, who tried to profit from using Rih's coveted "Fenty" trademark, could cause serious irreparable reputational damage to her promoters, venture, and Fenty empire if it didn't stop.
As per a filing seen by Radar, the world's richest female musician has reportedly settled out of court to avoid a public dispute with Ronald Fenty. Rihanna has since filed paperwork to dismiss the case on Tuesday as the court proceeded on September 22.
Sources suggest the star could have quietly settled in an out-of-court settlement with her dad and dad's business partner.
