Ryan Garcia is going through some rough years as he opens up on his battle with depression in an interview with Dan Canobbio on Inside Boxing Live. The Boxing star admitted at a point that he considered suicide.
Ryan Garcia has been through some challenging moments and has never been afraid to talk about his mental health. The talented boxing star recently opened up his scary battle with depression.
Well, Garcia spoke out on how bad things got for him. The boxing pro even considered committing suicide. There was a point when Ryan felt overwhelmed and didn't understand what was going on.

"When I was deep in it, I didn't think I was gonna live. I was so depressive and I went through bad habits. I started drinking and I never drink, ever. but I was getting drunk all the time. I wanted to kill myself at one point," Garcia said in an interview with Dan Canobbio on Inside Boxing Live.
In April, ahead of his fight against Emmanuel Tagoe, Ryan told about his mental health struggle, which he has to overcome. In July 2021, The 23-year-old fighter pulled out of the contest with Javier Fortuna because of his depression and anxiety.

In addition, Garcia said at the time that he was seeking professional help to become stronger in himself. The undefeated lightweight spoke to Canobbio that his issues stemmed from mismanaging stress.
"When I got to the gym, I just burst out crying for no reason in front of everybody, and I ran out of the gym. Canelo, everybody was there, and I was trying to work out, and I couldn't hold it on," the fighter said.

Ryan continued," I just burst. I got out of the gym. I said, ' I gotta go, guys. My body just felt off, everything felt off. It was not just mental. It was like physical. I just felt like I couldn't do anything,".
"Later on, the therapy helped me a lot, and then I kind of just went into this mode where I accepted it. I stopped fighting against the current and just went with it and recovered. It was a pretty good thing for me," he added.

The professional boxer had to take time off from the sport to deal with his issue and get back to where he needed to be mentally alright. Ryan wasn't surrounding himself with the proper support system, but he is now in a much better place.
Despite not having fought in more than a year, Ryan is still among the fastest-rising stars in Boxing. He owns a 21-0 record with 18 wins by way of knockout, and he won the vacant WBC interim lightweight title in his most recent bout knocking out Luke Campbell in January 2021.
