Authorities said on Thursday that they had arrested three people in connection with an alleged assault that took place on rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine at a gym in South Florida the previous week.
As per NY Post, Rafael Medina Jr., Octavious Medina, and Anthony Maldonado were arrested, according to a statement released by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office on Thursday night. They were in the process of being detained.
They're accused of assaulting and robbing Daniel Hernandez, the rapper. The rapper has been identified by this name.
According to the records kept at the detention facility, Rafael Medina and Maldonado were being held on the allegation of being involved in a felony case involving violence and robbery. Octavious Medina did not have any records that could be found.
It was not entirely obvious whether they have attorneys who could speak on their behalf.
As per his attorney, a group of people "beat up" the 26-year-old rapper at a LA Fitness sauna south of West Palm Beach on March 21.
"He has cuts to his face and bruises," the attorney, Lance Lazzaro, said in a statement about his client's condition.
Lazzaro claimed that the rapper made an attempt to fight back, but the group is supposed to have departed the scene once employees heard the ruckus.
A video of him doing so was shared on social media, and he could be seen strolling around the gym with blood on his face.
The sheriff's office issued a supplementary statement in which it explained that authorities were notified of the confrontation and that the rapper was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
In 2019, 6ix9ine entered a guilty plea to several counts of racketeering, as well as charges related to narcotics trafficking and firearms violations. He might have been sentenced to 47 years in prison, but his testimony helped prosecutors convict two prominent gang bosses, which resulted in a reduction in his sentence.
