Best known for his portrayal in 'Leave It Beaver,' Tony Dow has been diagnosed with cancer. News of the actor's health struggles became public in August 2021 after being briefly hospitalized for pneumonia.
The former Leave It To Beaver Actor Tony Dow has been diagnosed with cancer. The 77-year-old star portrayed Wally Cleaver on the classic show in all 234 episodes from 1957 to 1963. His beloved wife Lauren shared the heartbreaking news on Thursday night.
Further, Tony also had a role in various 'Beaver' spin-offs in later years and starred in the shows like 'Never Too Young' and 'The Greatest Show on Earth.
In a joint statement on Tony's official Facebook page, they said," Dear Friends & Fans of Tony Dow, I have some very sad news to share with you. Unfortunately, Tony has once again been diagnosed with cancer. He is approaching this reality so bravely, but it is truly heartbreaking."
"We want to thank you in advance for your caring thoughts. Our love, Lauren & Tony," the post continued. The couple didn't disclose what type of cancer Tony was suffering from. Fans have shared their supportive message and in advance for prayers.
The follower commented," Sending my prayers for a strong comeback for a great guy!! My thoughts are with you, Lauren, of course dear Tony." His diagnosis came after being hospitalized in August 2021 while battling pneumonia.
As per the source, the Ailing actor needed to wait 24 hours in the emergency room after a surge in the COVID Delta variant. Despite a terrible cough that caused pains on the top of his head, Dow was in good spirit with no fever and with a lot of IV fluids. His wife said he didn't have a coronavirus and tested negative five times.
Besides that, Dow confessed to having depression after completing the show' Leave It To Beaver. According to him, it's sad to be famous at the young age of 12 years, but nothing happens when he grows up and becomes a real person.

The actor also directed certain series episodes, including Hendersons and Honey, Babylon 5, and I Shrunk The Kids: The TV shows. Therapy and medication helped the artist have therapeutic effects on his ongoing depression struggles. After working in the TV films like Still The Beaver and Live It To Beaver, he reprised the role in the episode of The Love Boat, which ran from 1983 to 1989.
The guy shifted into producing and directing and focused on sculpting. One of his bronze sculptures was exhibited at the Salon 2008 de la National des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He also made his appearance in TV shows like Knight Rider, Lassie and Murder and Adam-12.
