Alex Biston was born on 26 August 1980s in Los Angeles and grew up in Thousand Oaks, Southern California. She got a nickname "Poppy" from her mother Judy Biston when she was very young. She attended Westlake High School in Thousand Oaks and graduated in 2011.

Later on, she joined Chapman University, a private university in Orange California. Alexandra earned a degree in broadcast journalism from Dodge College of Film and Media Arts.

She furthermore studied at the Mississippi State University from where she received a certificate in Operational and Broadcast Meteorology. Alex Biston is a successful meteorologist or journalist today because of her mother and grandmother who had her back.
