An American singer-songwriter and classically trained pianist who is better known as lead singer in American rock band Evanescence. She is a daughter of Sara Cargill and John Lee, a disc jockey. She was 11 years old when she started writing her own songs. In 2000 she completed her graduation from Pulaski Academy. She also joined Middle Tennessee State University to study music but later dropped to focus her career on music. She first founded her band Evanescence with guitarist Ben Moody. She has also been featured in Seether hit "Broken." In 2011 she was ranked in 49th position in the Top 100 Greatest Women in Music by VH1. She was also titled with "Rock Goddess of the Year" in 2012 during Loudwire Music Awards.
