Dena Higley is an American writer, speaker and author. She is the eldest of three children grown up in San Diego but moved to California during her teenage. Dena graduated from the University of Southern California with a BFA in Theatre. Higley is known as the head writer of the daytime soap operas Days of Our Lives and One Life to Live. She won the Daytime Emmy Award for the best writing in 2008 for her work on One Life to Live. She has debuted as a writer with her debut book Momaholic: Crazy Confessions of a Helicopter Parent.
Dena has been married for 25 years and is a mother of four children, including an autistic son, a daughter , and adopted daughter from Vietnam and an adopted son from Ethiopia. Dena is married to an American soap opera writer Mark Christopher Higley.
