Ioan Gruffudd is a Welsh actor, who started off in Welsh language film productions, then came to international attention as from the globally successful film "Titanic"as the Fifth Officer Harold Lowe. His parents Peter and Gillian Gruffudd were teachers. In 1995, he graduated from the Royal Academy of Drama Art in London. Ioan Gruffudd began his acting career at 13, in television film “Austin”. He has appeared in various films and television shows, including Castle as Erik Vaughn; Necessary Roughness as Nolan Powers (Guest Role); Glee as Paolo San Pablo; Under Milk Wood as Mog Edwards; Forever as Henry Morgan; and UnReal as John Booth.
Ioan Gruffudd is married o lives actress Alice Evans, on 14 September 2007. The wedding took place in Mexico and one of Gruffudd's best men and speechmakers at the wedding was fellow Welsh actor Matthew Rhys, his long-time friend and former flatmate of eight years.
Gruffudd and Evans met during the production of 102 Dalmatians, while she was engaged and living with someone else. The couple announced that they were expecting their first child on 20 April 2009. The couple has been blessed with two daughters, Ella Betsi (born 6 September 2009) and Elsie Marigold (born 13 February 2013).
