Joan O'Brien was born on February 14, 1936, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and is an American actress and singer, with much of her work taking place in the 1950s and 1960s. She is perhaps best remembered for films such as Operation Petticoat (1959), in which she starred with Cary Grant, and It Happened at the World's Fair (1963), opposite Elvis Presley.

She had retreated from acting in the mid-1960s, during which time she went back to music and toured with the Harry James Orchestra, then enjoyed a successful career as an executive with the Hilton Hotels. Today, O'Brien is remembered as one of the icons in film and music history.
