Born and raised in Brisbane, Queensland, Judith McGrath was a well-known Australian actress. She was best known for her role as "Prison Officer/Deputy Governor Colleen Powell" in TV series, "Prisoner (1979–84)".

McGrath also earned a nomination for her character as Nurse Von Ryan in the medical drama All Saints. The veteran actress is no more with us as she died at the age of 70 on October 2017 in her house in Queensland and the cause of death is still under review.

Early Life and Career of Judith McGrath

Judith McGrath was born on April 21, 1947, in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She was Australian and belonged to the White ethnicity. She completed her education at the local school of Queensland. 

Judith McGrath started her career as a theater artist. She worked at Brisbane Arts Theatre and she was a member of Twelfth Night Theatre. She debuted in a screen in 1969 with the movie, Age of Consent

McGrath rose to fame after portraying the role of fair-minded but sarcastic Deputy Governor Colleen "Po Face" Powell in the cult Network Ten series Prisoner. At first, she was a minor character on the show but due to the popularity of her character,  she became a permanent cast member in 1981. Altogether she appeared in 263 episodes before leaving the series in 1984.

Some of her screen credit includes A Country Practice, Bluey, Cop Shop, Skyways, Special Squad, The Flying Doctors, Round the Twist, A Country Practice and others.

McGrath was an only original cast member of television medical drama series, All Saints to star in all 12 seasons. The series hit the TV screen in 1998 and ended in late 2009. She portrayed the role of Yvonne "Von" Ryan opposite actor, Georgie Parker

Prisoner fame actress, Judith McGrath was found dead in her home Brisbane on October 20, 2017, at the age of 70.  Her friends and family, however, haven't revealed the real cause of her death. As per some online sources, McGrath had been facing a serious illness from longtime which is considered as the reason for her sudden death. Famous Australian TV actress, Georgie Parker paid a huge tribute to her All Saints co-star McGrath stating,

"She adored her family and her friends. She confronted things sometimes, and that made things exciting and memorable. When someone like that leaves, you remember so much because everything they do is so memorable. You can't say that about many people. She left her mark on and off camera."

She was an outstanding performer and an Australian legend. May her soul rest in peace.
