Judith McGrath started her career as a theater artist. She worked at Brisbane Arts Theatre and she was a member of Twelfth Night Theatre. She debuted in a screen in 1969 with the movie, Age of Consent.
McGrath rose to fame after portraying the role of fair-minded but sarcastic Deputy Governor Colleen "Po Face" Powell in the cult Network Ten series Prisoner. At first, she was a minor character on the show but due to the popularity of her character, she became a permanent cast member in 1981. Altogether she appeared in 263 episodes before leaving the series in 1984.
Some of her screen credit includes A Country Practice, Bluey, Cop Shop, Skyways, Special Squad, The Flying Doctors, Round the Twist, A Country Practice and others.
