South Korean model and actress, Kim Tae-ri is known for playing in South Korean erotic psychological thriller film, The Handmaiden, along with Kim Min-hee. Early life and Education
Kim Tae-ri was born on 24th April 1990, in Seoul, South Korea. She belongs to Asian ethnicity and holds South-Korean nationality.
Kim went to the Kyung Hee University in Yongin, Seoul where she majored in Journalism and Mass Communication. She then decided to pursue her career in acting.
She worked in a number of cafes, KFC, and for a local dairy, before she could finally pursue her acting career.
Kim Tae-ri started off her career working as a model in TV commercials for different brands. She made acting debut from 2010 short film titled ‘Citizen Zombie.’ The same year, she was cast in a music video ‘Spring Is Coming’ by Tafka Buddha.
In 2014, Kim was featured in the short film, What Are You Looking At? as a high school girl. The following year, she worked in three short films, ‘Lock Out,’ ‘Who Is It?’, and ‘Moon Young.’
Kim finally landed a lead role as Sook-hee in South Korean erotic psychological thriller film, ‘The Handmaiden,’ inspired by Sarah Waters' novel, ‘Fingersmith.’ She competed with 1500 other actresses for the role.
The movie also starred Kim Min-hee, Ha Jung-woo, and Cho Jin-Woong. ‘The Handmaiden’ competed at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival for the prestigious Palme d’Or award.
After that, Kim made a cameo appearance in the hit South Korean television series, ‘Entourage’ (2016). She then starred in 2017 South Korean historical drama film, ‘1987: When the Day Comes’.
Kim would be coming on-screen as a lead actress in a drama film, ‘Little Forest,’ which is set to release in February 2018 and her upcoming TV series ‘Mr. Sunshine’ is scheduled to release in July 2018 where she plays the character Ko Ae-shin.
