An American talented physical oceanographer who is best known as Professor of Physical Oceanography in the Climate, Atmospheric Sciences at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California, San Diego. Her main focus is in the general circulation of the ocean and also on affect on ocean currents due to various role of oceanic and atmospheric conditions. Talking about her education, she has got BA in physics and a BM in piano performance. In 1982 she got PhD in physical oceanography from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
