Margaret Debay Rogers was born on April 25, 1994, in Easton, Maryland. She spent her childhood on Maryland's Eastern Shore and was introduced to music at a young age, starting to take harp lessons when she was seven years old and subsequently learning piano, guitar, and banjo. Her musical education started in folk traditions; however, she also participated in school orchestras, jazz bands, and choirs. She studied at The Gunston School and then St. Andrew's School before going to New York University's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music to study the production and performance of music.
Love Life and Relationships
Maggie Rogers has kept her love life low-key. She had a five-year-long relationship that peacefully came to an end and influenced her music significantly. She wrote the song "Love You for a Long Time" about her ex-boyfriend. She is said to have been in a relationship with the musician Holden Jaffe from around 2020 to 2022, sharing both a personal and creative partnership.
They toured the "Surrender" album era together but broke up due to career demands. As of April 2025, Maggie declared she was single for the first time since her late teens; thus, she's in this new phase of personal freedom and self-discovery reflected in her latest album, Don't Forget Me. This album blends real and fictional stories around breakups and growth.
Music Career and Breakthrough
Before her rise to fame, Maggie self-released The Echo (2012) and Blood Ballet in 2014. Her career changed direction in 2016 when Pharrell Williams played her song "Alaska" during an NYU master class, and soon, it went viral.

This attention brought her a deal with Capitol Records and the opportunity to create her imprint, Debay Sounds, through which she retained artistic ownership.
Albums and Notable Works
This includes studio albums such as Heard It in a Past Life (2019), Surrender (2022), and Don't Forget Me, 2024, which showcase her array of folk, indie, art pop, and electronic styles.
