Miranda Elish Excellent Senior Season At Texas Softball Was Interrupted By Coronavirus
Miranda Elish was a star high school player with a career record of 66-15. After high school, she joined the University of Oregon and played there for freshman and sophomore years.
After two years, Elish transferred to the University of Texas at Austin as her head coach at Oregon was hired by Longhorns. In her junior season in Texas Softball, she made a record of 18-10 and led her team to super regional.
Miranda improved her performance even more in the senior year. She strung together a 1.25 ERA and 96 strikeouts over her 16 appearances. Also, she threw a perfect game against New Mexico on March 8, 2020.
Sadly, Indiana native could not complete her winning streak as her senior season was cut short. The National Collegiate Athletic Association(NCAA) canceled its spring championships, whereas the Big 12 also called off the rest of its springtime competitions because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
After the cancellations, the Texas fans were sad that their ace pitcher could not get the perfect goodbye she deserved. Thankfully, Elish took away some of those worries by announcing that she is planning on returning to Texas in 2021. On the Instagram post, shared on March 16, 2020, Elish wrote:
"pt. 5 coming spring 2021
There is nobody else I would rather go through this journey with. I can't wait to get back on the field with my girls. hook 'em 5ever"
Elish plans of returning to Texas will only be successful if NCAA decided to gift back the year of eligibility to the athletes who are missing out on their spring season. The decision about that is not made yet.
Miranda Elish Suffered A Hit On Her Face
In May 2019, during a NCAA Division I Super Regional game against Alabama, Elish suffered a accident. She was hit on the face by the ball thrown by the catcher Mary Iakopo to second base.
After the hit, the Miranda collapsed, and she stayed down on the ground. Soon, she was taken to the emergency room for a check-up.

Thankfully, the hit did not cause significant injuries, and she recovered quickly without any complications.
Is 22-year-old Miranda Elish Dating?
It is a piece of sad news for all of the Elish fanboys. The ace pitcher of Texas Softball is currently in a relationship with Shane Lemieux. He played football for the University of Oregon.
Elish first met her future boyfriend at the University of Oregon in 2017 and soon started dating. The pair were open about their relationship from early on and regularly shared lovey-dovey pictures of one another on Instagram.
As 2019 rolled in and Elish transferred to Texas, the pictures stopped appearing on Instagram. Many thought that the pair has broken up. However, that is not the case.
In recent times, Miranda is back to sharing pictures of her boyfriend. It looks like the pair was able to maintain their relationship despite the long distance.
Do Miranda Elish Have A Salary?
Though NCAA decided to pay the college athlete in November 2019, however, the details are not worked yet. Thus, currently, like every college athlete, Miranda Elish is not directly paid for playing softball in college.
The 22-year-old, however, is entitled to scholarships and small stipends. Since she is a athlete with good stats, there is no doubt she must be receiving a full scholarship from the college.
