However, in March 2016, Schwandt clarified all the all the allegations and rumors in a Q&A video on Jeffree's channel. He stated, he always was interested in men but being from the Midwest, he never got a chance to open up. He also added, relationships aren't bounded by gender, it is a connection between two people.

Additionally, both Schwandt and Jeffree revealed that they dated at that point where Jeffree wasn't as popular as he is today and Nathan was never interested in Jeffree fame. Defending his partner, Jeffree also said,
