Priti Patel is a British Conservative Party politician. She is the daughter of Ugandan Indian immigrant and the first Hindu woman to ever elected for Member of Parliament. Born and brought up in an Indian family where they used to debate on the various topic around the dining table. This later motivated her to do something and got involved in politics. By teenage Patel joined the Conservative Party, during the presidency of John Major.
Priti Patel is presently working with Local MPs in the Constituency; helping them with local issues. From 2014 till 2015, she held the position of Exchequer Secretary (HM Treasury) in Government. Currently, she is a Minister of State (department for work pensions), a government position, which she joined in May 2015. Patel faced controversy with a book she co- authored, Britannia Unchained , but she refused to talk to media about the issue. She is a married woman and has one child.
