The multi-Grammy award winning singer-songwriter, and record producer, Sade Adu is the daughter of Adebisi Adu, a Nigerian lecturer in economics and Anne Hayes, an English district nurse. She attended Clacton County High School.
In May 1983, Sade performed her first US show at the Danceteria nightclub in New York City. Her popular album 'Diamond Life' was released on 16th July 1984 and reached number two on the UK Album Chart, sold over 1.2 million copies in the UK, and won the Brit Award for Best British Album in 1985.
