The multi-Grammy award winning singer-songwriter, and record producer, Sade Adu is the daughter of Adebisi Adu, a Nigerian lecturer in economics and Anne Hayes, an English district nurse. She attended Clacton County High School.
In May 1983, Sade performed her first US show at the Danceteria nightclub in New York City. Her popular album 'Diamond Life' was released on 16th July 1984 and reached number two on the UK Album Chart, sold over 1.2 million copies in the UK, and won the Brit Award for Best British Album in 1985. Sade's sixth studio album, 'Soldier of Love', was released worldwide on 8th February 2010 and was the most recent album in ten years to contain new material was released worldwide on 8th February 2010 and also was the most recent album in ten years to contain new material.
In the 1980s, Sade Adu has an affair with Robert Elms, an English writer. In 1989, she married Carlos Scola Pliego, Spanish film director and divorced in 1995. She moved to the Caribbean to live with Bob Morgan, Jamaican music producer in the late-1990s, but they separated. The couple has a daughter named Mickailia “Ila” Adu (born-1995); she is studying at Wycliffe College in the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire. In 2016, on National Coming Out Day, her daughter Mickailia came out as a transgender man.
