He is a Canadian-American country music artist, best known for his 1966 Billboard hits: ‘Bracero’ and ‘The Great El Tigre’. In 1993, he was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame. He is an active member of the Grand Ole Opry. He first sang in a Montreal church choir and was inspired to sing by Gene Autry. His father was a railroad architect.
