Carolyn, who had just started working at News 12 Long Island, first met the renowned plastic surgeon Jon back in 1980.

Dr. Turk who grew up in East Meadow, was an intern at Mount Sinai Hospital in NewYork, called Gusoff to hang out in the evening.
They made plans but when the day came to see each other, Gusoff made excuses and canceled the date.
In an interview with NewYorktimes, Dr. Jon revealed how they first met. He quoted,
''We made plans, and the day of the date she said, 'My sister's pregnant and she had an appendicitis. I thought she was blowing me off so I told her that if she didn't want to go then just say so."
After the awkward talk, both of them decided to catch up again and this time, Carolyn didn't make any excuses. Their dates gradually transformed to romantic dinners and eventually, they got into a relationship.

The duo first got engaged on January 13 that same year as reported by The New York Times.
And after seven months past their engagement, the pair got married happily inviting all close friends and families. The ceremony was officiated by Rabbi Stanley Platek and Cantor Sol Sadowsky.
