On May 2016, she shook the whole staff at the Fox News Network and her fans after she revealed that she's diagnosed with a rare type of breast cancer.
In a full-blown article, written by Gerri herself, she wrote,
"I’ve always prided myself on being different and forging my own path. But that changed on April 28. -- I’m no longer a trail blazer."
It was one of the gloomy and sad articles that we ever read. But at that difficult time, her husband was always by her side.
He was her source of inspiration, her motivation, and above all, her love. In her post-treatment interview, she affirmed,
"Had I not had cancer, I would never have seen how supportive my husband could be. When I was shaking with fear and worry about the first surgery, David calmed and reassured me, expressing an unshakable confidence that I would come out on top."
Marriage with David Evans
The betrothed couple first met each other at the Columbia University, where both of them studied. It's ironical that both David and Gerri became the Knight-Bagehot Fellow, at the college.
After their graduation in 1992, the couple tied the knot in 1994 in a content ceremony. They don't share any children between them, but Gerri loves to go out and enjoy with her nephew.
David completed his degree in Business & Economics in 1992. Currently, he works as the Global Event Content Strategy at Forrester Research. During his long work experience, he worked at big firms like DMA, Gerson Lehrman Group, and Red 7 Media.
Recently, to forget all the grim memories of cancer, Gerri removed her wig, which she was wearing since her chemotherapy.
All her fans are now elated to see their favorite news reporter come back to the big screen after a brief tenure. Even though she returned to duty in October 2016, but from this month onwards, she's the real Gerri.
