Avi Kaplan is an American singer and songwriter of the Cappella group Pentatonix; the distinct one among the five.
But the sad news is the singer is not a part of the band anymore as he announced the news of departure from the band back in May 2017.

The other members of the band Kristin Maldonado, Mitch Grassi, and Scott Hoying were searching for an accomplished bass singer, and they encountered Kaplan.
He initiated his journey in Pentatonix in the year 2011 with five members including Kelvin Olusola. They performed successfully in the audition of The Sing-Off and eventually went on to win the title.
As the distinct member of the band, Avi was praised with three Grammy Awards. The band won the Grammy for the 'Best Arrangement, Instrumental or a Capella' for their performance in Daft Punk on 8 February 2015.
Similarly, on 15 February 2016 and 12 February 2017, the band was also awarded for their work; That's Christmas to Me and Jolene respectively.
Kaplan has now presented himself as a solo artist for Fields and Pier under the name 'Avriel & the Sequoias'. His additional solo song Sage and Stone was premiered on 9 June 2017.
Avi disclosed that he would be leaving Pentatonix in May 2017. Well, that's a surprising yet sad news for Pentatonix fans but the truth is always acceptable.
He explained,
"It’s been extremely hard for me to not be able to see my family or friends when I need to or when they need to see me,” he explains. “It’s been hard for me to just escape to nature when I’m feeling overwhelmed or when I just need time for myself."
He further explained his grief that he will carry out the remainder of his scheduled tasks in the band and gave a warm wish for the prosperity of the band.
"I believe in what we do, and I believe in what they will do. I could never inhibit their success in any way. I would never, ever want that."
The reason behind Kaplan to leave the band is most probably due to his dedication on his solo projects.

Kaplan assured his fans via a Facebook message that he will continue his performance as a singer. He wrote,
"I will ALWAYS do my best to lift others up with my voice. I hope that you’ll all support my decision and that you can understand where I’m coming from. And regardless of anything, I just want to thank you for all that you’ve given to me."
"I have been so unbelievably blessed and humbled to be a part of all your lives in any way and I wanted you to hear this from me. From my voice. And from my heart."
As of 2017, the renowned singer has a net worth of about $8 million.
