Billy Morrissette & Ex-Wife Maura Tierney Made A Great Pair; Alas! They Split

Once upon a time, there existed a special woman who brought immense happiness, in the life of the renowned actor Billy Morrissette. Sadly, it turned out, that happiness wasn't meant to stay forever.

Speaking of which, that woman was none other than the stunning actress, Maura Tierney who shared a precious portion of her life of more than thirteen years with the actor. Although the former couple couldn't keep their romance alive forever, history still remembers then as one of the most beautiful couples.

Hoe Did Billy Morrissette Meet Ex-Wife Maura Tierney?

Better known for his roles on Pump up the Volume and Get a Clue, Morrissette's fate brought him across the actress for the first time in the early nineties. However, there are a lot of theories known on the story behind their first acquaintance.

Some sources claim Billy and Maura were linked up through mutual friends who set them on a blind date. But, according to E! News, both of the actors met after they both had to leave a set of the show after it got canceled to be aired on television. For more information, the series was also meant to cast The Karate Kid star, Ralph Macchio.

Nonetheless, romance instantly flourished between the two. And not long after their brief dating life, Billy popped the question. Maura who was totally in love with the Severed Ties actor at the time happily said Yes.

And, on 1st February 1993, the love birds walked down the aisle in a secretive wedding ceremony in the blissful presence of their close friends, family, and celebrity associations. Maura and Billy never became parents though.

Also not to let it go, throughout their marriage, the couple also worked together on a project. Billy wrote and directed Scotland, PA, an indie comedy that was released in 2001. The film had Maura, who also produced the project, taking the lead role of Pat McBeth.

Thirteen Years Later, Maura Filed For Divorce

Unfortunately, Billy and Maura couldn't keep their matrimony vows and they decided to part ways in March 2006 after what they shared a blissful married life of a whopping thirteen years together. As a matter of fact, it was The Affair actress who filed for the divorce citing irreconcilable differences at the Los Angeles Supreme Court.

Their divorce, however, was only finalized four months later in July. The heartbreaking news is that, separating from a partner who Billy shared more than a decade together seemed to have left a huge void and ruined him.

In an interview revealed in 2009, Billy claimed he was in such a large and crazy dark place. Not to mention, Morrissette even left Los Angeles where he spent twenty years and moved back to New York after the divorce. In NYC, he bought a $1.5 million loft to make a replica of Picasso’s Guernica in SoHo.

Additionally, the Vegas Vacation star also purchased seven bedrooms consisting house which he sold in 2017 for $5.23 million. But, leading a super-private life today, Billy, today, prefers to call himself a former actor and former director.

Morrissette also never married again, at least, not yet.
