LA Clipper's Head coach Doc Rivers long-term marriage with Kristen Rivers; Shares Four Kids

A successful marriage or long term relationship is rare as a unicorn when you look at NBA players' love life, but not for the retired NBA player turned coach, Doc Rivers.

Doc Rivers Married His College Sweetheart

Best known as the LA Clipper's former pro and the current coach of the same NBA team, Doc Rivers, whose real name is Glenn Anton 'Doc' Rivers, has been in the business for over thirty years.

Rivers, who started off his Basketball career as a college student studied at the Marquette University which didn't only give him the ticket to NBA, but also paved the way to his love life.

Marquette is indeed where Rivers met the love of his life, none other than Kristen Rivers, the mother of his four grown-up children.

Kristen Dated Doc's Teammates

Both Doc and Kristen were fresher when they first met in 1979. Interestingly, at the time, Doc's future wife was dating one of his teammates. But, after Kristen broke up with her then-boyfriend, romance sparked between the two.

Funnily, the first time Doc met Kristen, his words to his then-girlfriend were:

"You know, you’d be kind of pretty if you washed your hair once in a while."

Hopefully, Doc was just being sarcastic or joking to get Kristen's attention. Unfortunately, at the time during the late seventies and early eighties, interracial relationships were still a huge thing. And, the love birds had to keep their dating life lowkey from the public to avoid public racial taunt and harassment.

But, love won. Seven years later, Doc and Kristen said 'I Do' in a private wedding ceremony in 1986.

Doc & Kristen Are Proud Parents Of Four Children

Most of Doc's children seemingly followed their father's footsteps to make a career as a sportsman.

And, Just a year later of their marriage, Doc Rivers and his wife welcomed their first child, Jeremiah Rivers, a former Basketball player who was repped by Georgetown and Indiana University. Jeremiah studied at Winter Park High School.

The duo's second child, daughter Callie Rivers born in 1989, is a Volleyball pro who previously played for the University of Florida and currently plays across the country.

Callie, who previously dated popular athletes including Brandon Spikes, got hitched to boyfriend turned husband, Seth Curry, the brother of Stephen Curry in September 2019. Callie and Seth also share a daughter named Carter Curry.

The happy father Doc took to Instagram and shared a beautiful picture from his daughter's big day, writing; "What a wonderful day.'

Likewise, Doc's third child is none other than NBA star, Austin Rivers, who became the first player in the NBA history for playing on the behalf of his father. Austin is currently engaged to fiancee Brittany Hotard, with whom he shares a son named Kayden James Rivers.

Last but not least, their youngest son; Spencer Rivers is similarly already making move as a Basketball player. Spencer and his siblings can be often spotted at Clippers game to support their father.

But, most importantly, Doc is proud that all of his children played in the NCAA tournaments. Doc, a proud breed of Maywood still resides in Chicago with his beautiful wife of more than thirty years.
