Matt Damon's long tenure in Hollywood as one of the most decorated actors has contributed to a long list of successful movies. Starting with his first notable role in the 1996 war film Courage Under Fire, Good Will Hunting, which earned him an Academy Award, Dogma, The Talented Mr. Ripley, The Rainmaker, and The Legend of Bagger Vance. Known and loved widely for playing solid, scrappy, and benevolent leading men in most of his flicks, fans, however, may be distantly aware of Damon as a public figure.  

Matthew Paige Damon was born on October 8, 1970, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Matt started early on in high school, where he met fellow Oscar winner Ben Affleck, with whom Damon will collaborate in many movies. Also, film producer and screenwriter, Damon's breakthrough film, Good Will Hunting, was written by him and Affleck, for which the pair won Oscars for best screenplay. Unlike his friend and contemporary Ben, who has navigated a bumpy personal life over the years, Damon seemingly hit the jackpot at the get-go. The Oscar winner has been happily married since 2005.

Enough can't be said about Damon's stellar career, but fans would be hard-pressed to find there's not much available about the actor's personal life despite his level of celebrity. One thing that Matt's career and personal life have in common is their endurance. The Good Will Hunting actor seemingly doesn't have a romantic past, well, at least, according to the internet. Damon met Luciana Barroso when he and his Stuck On You film crew walked into a bar where Luciana was working as a bartender.  

The pair's meet-cute story gets sweeter when Barroso reveals how the Oscar winner took refuge behind her bar to escape from his enthusiastic fans. "'You know, if you're going to be back here, you can't just be standing there," Luciana recalls telling Damon, who started making drinks at her instruction. Although the Stillwater actor rarely ever reflects on his married life, Damon once revealed that he never thought a blissful marriage and a soulmate were in his cards until he met Barroso.   

"I didn't think it was going to happen for me. My brother found his soulmate very young," the actor says, adding, "he'd been married for 10 years by the time I even met my wife, and I looked at this really happy, wonderful marriage and kind of went, 'I guess that’s not going to happen for me.' And then it did." Damon and Barroso got engaged in September 2005 and tied the knot in December of the year. The pair were blessed with their firstborn, Isabella, in June 2006, followed by the births of Stella, in 2010, and Gia, in 2012.  

 The pair might not be on the list of your celebrity couple goals because of their extremely low-profile approach, but here's why they should be. Matt and Luciana have matching tattoos in memory of the late Heath Ledger. They may be keeping their relationship hush-hush, but the actor and his wife are doing almost everything a thriving couple would do. Damon and Barroso renewed their wedding vows during their tenth anniversary. "It was a very family-oriented and happy celebration," a source said about the couple's wedding renewal.

Barroso used to work as a bartender but since marrying the love of her life, she has certainly risen to the celebrity level. Born and brought up in Argentina, Luciana was already a mother of one when she met the Rainmaker actor. Damon shared how Lucy's maternal nature attracted him toward her. "I love that you're a mum and that's your priority," the actor recounts saying to Barroso. Before Damon, she was married to a man named Arbello Barroso, with whom she had her daughter Alexia.  

Matt's wife has worked many jobs. Aside from being a former bartender, flight attendant, and God knows what else, Barroso is now working as an interior designer with celebrity clientele. Luciana is as private as her husband and therefore doesn't uses social media. So, too bad, if you're thinking about getting a sneak peek of her life. Another striking thing about the interior designer is that she is best friends with Chris Hemsworth's wife, Elsa Pataky, who is another person with whom Barroso shares a matching tattoo.

The Invictus actor is a father to four daughters; the actor adopted his wife's daughter from her first marriage after he married her. Damon's oldest daughter, Alexia, remained a mystery for many years but has been in the public eye for a few years now. Alexia might venture into her father's footsteps, considering she had a minor role in Matt's We Bought a Zoo, in 2011. She is reportedly studying at some fancy private school in New York City.   

Damon and Luciana's daughter, Isabella, is only 16, and hence still, relatively under her parents' supervision. Although there isn't much known about Isabella or any of Damon's daughters for that matter, based on the actor's many anecdotes, Isabella is ruthless in keeping her Oscar-winning dad humble. "She doesn't want to see any movies that I'm in that she thinks might be good. She just likes to give me s—t," Matt revealed, adding "she keeps my feet firmly on the ground."  

The same goes with Damon's youngest two, Gia, and Stella, who are clearly the apples of their father's eyes as the actor often takes his little ones out on strolls. "My whole life opened up when I became a dad. I'm very much on the receiving end of all the good stuff," Matt said while dishing on his fatherhood journey. Damon and his happy brood were last spotted on a family holiday in Capri, Italy in 2022.
