Pansino stated that her interest in cooking was inspired by her grandmother. She initiated her youtube channel after she was encouraged by a few of her professional YouTuber friends.

She started making youtube videos at first to get more comfortable in front of the camera. Her youtube channel Nerdy Nummies has more than 8 million subscribers and an average of 75 million views per month.

The book consists of six chapters and has step-by-step pictures to guide certain recipes. The book was featured in the New York Times bestseller list on 22 November 2015.

Pansino won Shorty Awards in Food in 2013 and The Taste Awards in Kikkoman Breakout Foodies of the Year in 2015 with nominations in Streamy Awards in Show of the Year and Food in 2014.

She now opened her own baking line which is available in stores including Michaels, Amazon, Joann Crafts, and others.
