Patricia Southall Had Troubled Marriage With Martin Lawrence; Details To Current Husband & Kids
Once upon a time, Patricia Southall had her name linked to the comedian and actor Martin Lawrence. As a matter of fact, the two were married too. Sadly their rocky marriage could only last for two years.
But, that's alright. Because sometimes a failed marriage and a divorce are all that it takes and acts as the bridge to lead one to the true love of their life. And, in the case of the former beauty pageant queen and Martin Lawrence, their marriage was no less than horrendous. But, at least, Patricia found her peace and someone who loves her with every breath he takes.

For the Virginia-born and bred, Patricia Southall and the star of Martin, it was sort of a love at first sight. The former love birds first locked their eyes to each other whilst Southall worked at the media office of governor and politician, Lawrence Douglas Wilder.

SOURCE: Pat Smith Facebook Precisely, the incident dates back to the beautiful summer of 1992 when Mr. Lawrence arrives at the office to attend an event for the Russell Simmons Presents Def Comedy in Richmond and gets acquainted with Patricia for the first time.
Not long after the incident, the two hit it off quickly. By the next year, Southall was awarded as Miss Virginia 1993 and enjoyed the peak of her early success alongside a popular boyfriend as Lawrence.
And, after dating for more than a year, Southall and Lawrence decided to walk down the aisle on 7th January 1995 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel in the presence of 600 wedding guests. But, in less than twenty months of being married, things went south and they split.
What Went Wrong? Lawrence Threatened To Kill Patricia & Her Family
Things turned absolutely horrible between the two whilst Lawrence had himself involved in a lot of scandals the same year, he filed for divorce. With Martin acting crazy, violent and psychopathic, there was no other option for Patricia but to leave him.

Southall also mentions Lawrence who smoked marijuana every day once woke up her in the middle of the night in July 1996 and started arguing for no reason and even shoved her.
Not to mention again, Martin even threatened Southall that he would kill her and her whole family. But the disturbing list still doesn't end here. Martin wasn't done acting crazy. His craziness was visible even in his apologies where Patricia alleges that he sent her a note citing he would do anything to have her back and that he would make sure no one would have her.

At the time, the former couple had eight months of an infant child, their only and first daughter, Jasmine Page Lawrence. On the bright side, Southall won the case and the custody battle of Jasmine and ended things with Lawrence for the good.
Happily Married To NFL Star Emmitt Smith With Three More Kids
Pat met her current husband, retired footballer Emmitt Smith in 1997. At the time, as Southall was historically crowned as the first black Miss Virginia, Emmitt had only just enjoyed his success of being named as the MVP of Dallas Cowboy on their win against the Buffalo at the Superbowl.

As a matter of fact, Smith and his first wife, Hope Wilson, also shares a daughter named Rheagen Smith, who followed the footstep of her father.
As things went smoothly with Smith, Patricia couldn't say no to the NFL player when he made the proposal. On 15th May 2002, both Southall and Smith walked down the aisle for the second time. The only difference this time was that they were doing it with the right person.
